I'm guessing this is a healthy question to answer. Just to add some real variety, I'm going to leave out the manadatory Chicken Dance and Hokey Pokey. Here they are with my reasons.
1. Just Dance (Lady Gaga) - You know you turn that up when you're in the car by yourself. People dig it.
2. All You Need is Love (The Beatles) - This has become a classic love song that adds some dimension to the playlist.
3. You Shook Me All Night Long (AC/DC) - Think about it.
4. Just the Way You Are (Bruno Mars) - Hey, it's the bride's day, and this song is a great one for her.
5. What a Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong) - This is a terrific song for a slow dance. A wedding is a celebratory day in which everything seems right.. except if you're in one of those tragic Italian weddings when an earthquake hits.
Honorable Mention: Like a Prayer (Madonna), Baby Got Back (Sir Mix-a-Lot), Chasing Cars (Snow Patrol), Angel (Aerosmith), Wonderful Tonight (Eric Clapton), Cecila (Simon and Garfunkel), Smile (Steven Tyler), Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen/Rufus Wainwright), When I Fall in Love (Chris Botti), The Way You Look Tonight (Frank Sinatra), Diner (The Nadas)
Of course, I may be missing the point here, and these should all be fun songs. I should also mention that, under no circumstance, should Michael Jackson's Thriller be played. People all jump on the dance floor excited to get involved, and no one knows how to dance to it. They try a little bit, laugh, and eventually give up leaving the floor empty for the remaining 5 minutes. Looking at this mess of songs, I find myself a little disappointed that I had no representation from The Nadas at my own wedding. Oh well.
